Within these cocoa pods will be multiple beans, approximately the size of a coat button covered in a thick white pulpy substance. It is this thick white pulp which is sweet and tangy. The beans underneath the pulp can be dried and put to other culinary uses.
Provides a good source of Calcium, Copper, Iron, Magnesium, Phosphorus, Selenium & Zinc as will as B-Vitamins.
